An Outdoor Destination Wedding at Villa Le Fontanelle, Florence
Travel is a huge part of my life, though I often feel that I don’t do enough of it. When I got the offer to second shoot (working alongside a main photographer) at a destination wedding in Florence, Italy, I was quick to snap it up. Being able to fuse travel and work together is a complete dream come true for me, and I enjoyed every single second of my short two day trip to Florence to photograph Rania and Hassan’s wonderful day.
The wedding was a true cultural gathering with guests coming from all corners of the globe including the US, Lebanon, the UAE and the UK. The happy couple were so wonderful to work with and were as excited as me to photograph in the warm, unique Tuscan light – see their first dance practice below!
Villa le Fontanelle, nestled in the mountains overlooking Florence and it’s Duomo, is an idyllic setting for an outdoor wedding. The ceremony took place beneath an old fortress and the dining tables were situated with a panoramic scene of Florence in the distance. Bay leaves paired with a special olive oil were laid on the tables ready for a meal of pasta, beef and plenty of wine!
Shooting alongside Claudio of The White Wedding was fantastic – I got to learn a little Italian and I helped Claudio with his English! The wedding was beautifully put together by Chiara at Weddings In Tuscany. I’ve been dreaming of shooting a destination wedding for years, and finally I can tick it off the bucket list. Here’s to more travels and taking photographs of wonderful couples around the world.
