Ffion & Clwyd’s Welsh Village Wedding
After a weekend off, relaxing with Lorelai and Rory (hands up Gilmore Girls fans!), I’m back in the office, energised and ready to share with you last summer’s weddings. I’m starting with Ffion and Clwyd’s beautiful day in the small Welsh village of Bontuchel, near Ruthin.
I first met Ffion eight years ago, on a Freshers evening at university in Cardiff…Ffion looked after me that night as a young student in a new city and I’m glad we kept in touch as I was honoured to be asked to photograph hers and Clwyd’s wedding last year.
If I could find one word to describe this wedding, it would be ‘relaxed’ as it was such a laid back affair with rustic touches in both the ceremony and reception. Us Welsh are proud of our roots and with both families hailing from the Welsh countryside, it was only apt that the decor was homely and inspired by the natural surroundings. Of course, there was also a lot of song (and dance – see Ffion and Clwyd’s 1st dance practice below!) It was also no surprise that football came into the day too, with Ffion being a big fan of West Ham. I loved the gift from her sister; a brand new shirt with her new surname!
Enjoy the photos, and I’ll be back later this week with more weddings to share. Can’t wait!
